Typical Client Agreement

This agreement is between Bill Petrie ("the Practitioner") and the undersigned client. Bill Petrie provides online coaching and mentoring services only.

Professional Status

Bill Petrie has more than 35 years’ experience in coaching, mentoring, and psychological work. He works exclusively online. His sole professional registration is as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). This registration has no jurisdiction over his work as a coach and mentor outside the borders of South Africa. The services provided do not constitute regulated healthcare or psychotherapy under UK law.

Nature of the Work

The work offered is coaching and mentoring. It is reflective and exploratory in nature and does not involve diagnosis, clinical assessment, or medical or psychiatric treatment.

Sessions and Fees

Sessions are 50 minutes in duration. Fees are payable in advance. Sessions may be purchased individually or in bundles of four. Fees may be reviewed periodically.

Information Collected and Use of Data

Limited personal information is collected for the purposes of communication, contracting, scheduling, and service delivery. Session notes may be kept to support continuity of the work. These notes are

non-diagnostic and are used solely for the delivery of coaching and mentoring services.

Some information discussed may constitute special-category personal data. This data is processed only with the client’s explicit consent and solely for the purpose of providing the service.

Session Recordings

Sessions are not recorded by default. Recording will only occur with the client’s explicit, prior consent for a clearly stated purpose. Consent for recording may be withdrawn at any time.

Confidentiality

All information shared is treated as confidential. Confidentiality may only be broken where required by law, where there is a serious risk of harm to the client or others, or where disclosure is necessary for legal defence.

Data Retention

Session notes are normally retained for up to seven years following the end of the work, in line with professional insurance requirements, after which they are securely deleted or anonymised. Financial records are retained for six years in accordance with UK law.

US-Specific Disclaimer

For clients accessing services from the United States: the services provided are coaching and mentoring services only and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental health or medical condition. Nothing in this agreement establishes a therapist–patient or healthcare provider relationship as defined under US federal or state law.
